Swimming in Minnesota

Minnesota, the land with thousands of lakes and water bodies has various kinds of arrangements for water recreation that attracts visitors of all age. Apart from other water sports like canoeing, kayaking, fishing or boating, swimming in Minnesota is one of the most common and favorite water recreation activities, for both adults and children. In the months of summer crowds of swimmers can be seen along the beaches of Minnesota. Apart from normal swimming there are also arrangements for some specific water events like lap swimming and family swimming.


There are various clubs with many registered swimmers both for men and women.Apart from these, there are also a number of volunteers and organizations which help in developing this sport for Minnesota. The United States Swimming Safety Education committee manages the safety rules and regulations for swimming in Minnesota. There are various competitions for swimming in Minnesota. Minnesota has produced some great swimmers from time to time, and one of the swimmers of Minnesota, worth mentioning, is Tom Malchow, the Olympic gold medalist for the year 2000.
