The state of Minnesota apart from being known for its sightseeing and activity options is also known for its sports opportunities and this state provides its full support and encourages sports such as basketball, soccer, lacrosse, golf and baseball.
About the Minnesota it could be said that the Minnesota Hockey is the statewide governing body of amateur hockey in Minnesota and also is an affiliate of the Hockey of the United Sates. Minnesota Hockey, which was earlier known as the Minnesota Amateur Hockey Association offers volunteer services related to the growth and development of the youth hockey of the state of Minnesota, situated in the Midwestern region of the United States.

As far as the Minnesota hockey teams are concerned, it could be said that the Minnesota Wild, the National Hockey League team was founded in the year 2000 and this team played their home game at the Xcel Energy Center (a sports arena) that adorns the city of St Paul, the capital as well as the second most populous city of Minnesota. This team made it to the Western Conferences Finals and this took place in the year 2003.
It is also important to state here that the Minnesota North Stars were a professional ice hockey team and the venue for their games was the Met Center situated at Bloomington (a city situated in the Hennepin County, Minnesota). This team appeared in the Stanley Cup Finals in the year 1981 and 1999 but failed to win. The well - known players of this team are John Mariucci, Gump Worsely, Mike and Harry Howell. However, few years down the line, the North Stars moved their base to Dallas and at Dallas they came to be known as the Dallas Stars.
