Minnesota Public Radio is a public radio network with its base in Minnesota serving the people of Minnesota since 1967. The network of Minnesota Public Radio comprises of over 50 FM transmitters. Minnesota Public Radio broadcasts three different channels in the Minnesota of “news and information”, classical music and “The Current” music service that broadcast programs of a wide variety of musical styles. Minnesota Public Radio is a member of both the Public Radio International and National Public Radio. Under the trade name of American Public Media, Minnesota Public Radio hosts a wide array of national programs. American Public Media is the second-biggest public radio establishment in the US.

Minnesota Public Radio started with the broadcast of a combination of talk series and music programs. From 1980, people began to choose between talk programs and classical series and so the service of The Current began. Almost 15% of the total population of Minnesota listens to Minnesota Public Radio. The news and information channels broadcast on Minnesota Public Radio include a combination of local and international series. The mornings on most of the weekdays begin with the Morning Edition, a National Public Radio program, then follows Talk of the Nation, Day to Day, All Things Considered, The World, As It Happens and BBC World Service. The most popular programs broadcasted on Minnesota Public Radio include This American Life, The Jazz Image, American Routes, A Prairie Home Companion and Car Talk. KNOW is the news and information station of the Twin Cties flagship station. Performance Today and the Classical 24 are some of the best classical musical programs broadcast by Minnesota Public Radio. Internet radio frequencies are obtainable in each of the three Minnesota Public Radio service. Differently-able persons of Minnesota are served by the Subsidiary Communications Authority which uses a Radio Talking Book Network. Minnesota Public Radio covers 98% of the total area of Minnesota and serves the areas of North Dakota, South Dakota, Michigan, Iowa, Wisconsin as well as the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Manitoba.
