Minneapolis education system has located the state on the higher strata of education map of the world. The libraries of Minnesota have a lion share contribution in the development of education system of Minnesota. Minneapolis Public Library is a library system in the Minnesota. In 1860 Minnapolis Public Library and Information Center or shortly known as MPL was founded. A cental library is there in the system along with 14 branch libraries.
Minneapolis Public Library Central Library stores vast resources for the public. A US $140 million package was approved by Minneapolis voters for the renovation of this library in Minnesota. Cesar Pelli is the designer of the new Central Library building. With him was Architectural Alliance, the architectural firm of Minneapolis. There is a roof garden in the library. The library receives enough daylight. While the library was under construction, interim services were provided in Maarquette Plaza.

The new library is bathed in light and offers comfortable places to the readers. The library is wrapped in a quaint elegance. The 2 million items of the Minneapolis Public Library is for public. The new library has gold and glass toned wall, made of Minnesota limestone. There is a public walkway between Hennepin Avenue and Nicollet Mall. Today, the link is a five storey tall atrium linking Nicollet and Hennepin. The flor is of dazzling Minnesota limestone interspersed with blue glass and marble. This artwork is done by Lita Albuquerque of California.
