History of Minnesota

Minnesota is one of the most important and oldest state in United States. The history of Minnesota is the history of the whole nation as was shaped by the native Americans who were the first residents of the country. The state itself stands as an epitome of how a nation was formed from its uncivilized state. By studying the history of Minnesota, one can see the colonizing history of the Europeans and how they settled in this part of the world. The history of world and its development to the present state can be studied by studying the history of Minnesota. The growth from agrarian structure to rapid industrialization can be observed by studying the history of Minnesota.

The historical study of Minnesota shows the development of various industrial centers in Minnesota. There were practices of fur trading, lodging and farming in Minnesota. Agricultural practices were also there in a rapid scale. However, in the later periods new style of industries also came in like railroad building industry, flour milling and iron mining industries were also set up. These industries are still in running in Minnesota. Studying the history of Minnesota, one can observe who were the original settlers who had come in in the pre-historic period in Minnesota. The first people who came in Minnesota came in during the last Ice Age. From them came in ancient races like Anishnaabe, then came the Sioux and later the Native Americans.

Fur trading emerged as a vital occupation and settlers from France came here with the aim of establishing fur trading industry. After this agricultural era passed, then the state had to face the upheavals of repeated wars and battles. First it was the American Civil War and later the Dakota War which left a deep impact in the lives as well as on the soil of Minnesota. After passing through ages of constant development, Minnesota has reached its present state.
