The construction of this building got complete in the year 1905 and it is also known to be one of the four/five buildings of the world that boasts of a marble dome that is devoid of any support and the credit for such an impressive structure goes to Cass Gilbert (the designer of the Minnesota State Capitol).
The striking feature of this building is the gilded quadriga (a four horse chariot) that adorns the entrance of this building and it is known as the ‘The Progress of the State’ and it was sculpted by Edward Clark Potter (American sculptor) and Daniel Chester French (American sculptor). The guilded quadriga underwent a restoration and the result of this restoration was the replacement of the gold leaf.
However, it is important mention here that the Minnesota State Capitol in Minnesota was opened for the first time to the public in the year 1995 on the 2nd of January.
This magnificent building has been added to the National Register of Historic Places in the year 1972.
