Minnesota Lottery

Minnesota Lottery is the official lottery organization for the US state of Minnesota. In November 1988, 57% of the voters in Minnesota supported the constitutional amendment of authorizing a state lottery. The Minnesota Legislation passed statute law in May 1989 for beginning a lottery and divided the profits equally between the Greater Minnesota Corporation and the Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund. On 17th April, 1990, Minnesota Lottery began selling current tickets and in 1990 May, the Legislature altered the method of distributing the earnings of the Minnesota Lottery of giving 25% to the Greater Minnesota Corporation, 35% to the Infrastructure Development Fund and 40% to the trust fund.

On 13th August, 1990, the Minnesota Lottery made a net profit of 100 million US dollars and distributed almost half of that amount in prizes. In 1990 November, Minnesota presented 40% of the earnings of Minnesota Lottery to the trust fund till the year 2001. In 1991 June, the Legislature altered the way of distribution of the lottery earnings of giving 40% to the trust fund and of presenting the state General Fund 60% of the profits. On 18th June, 1993, Minnesota Lottery received a net profit of 1 billion US dollars in sales and on 1st July 1995, the Lottery board was discarded by the state legislature. Minnesota Lottery exceeded 2 billion US dollars on 6th May 1996. Minnesota Lottery celebrated the conclusion of its 6th fiscal year on 30th June, 1996 with the record profit of 375.6 million US dollars and on the 30th June the state Legislature increased the retailer commission up to 5.5% from 5% and added a bonus of 1% for cashing tickets.
